Adding a storage extension to the back of a busy shop is never as simple as it sounds. Builders need safe access, room for materials, and a structure that can handle repeated loading and unloading while the rest of the shop carries on as normal.
For this Elmstead Market project, we designed and erected a birdcage scaffold combined with a single-lift platform to provide secure working levels across the full footprint of the extension.
The birdcage system created a free-standing internal scaffold, ideal for supporting multiple trades at once. The single lift allowed easy movement of timber and tools up to the working deck without awkward manual handling. To keep the neighbouring businesses happy, we worked to a tight schedule, installed clear signage, and kept the site tidy every evening.
This tailored solution meant the extension team could build at pace while staying fully compliant with safety regulations—proof that smart scaffolding can make construction smoother and safer.
